‘Refining crop isotopic approaches to understanding past farming practice: gaining an archaeological insight into agricultural sustainability in West Africa’
Ich führe Isotopenanalysen an Getreideproben aus modernen und archäologischen Kontexten durch, um herauszufinden, wie Menschen in der Sahelzone in Westafrika ihre Getreide angebaut haben. Das Ziel ist es, besser die langfristige Auswirkung der Klima- und Umweltveränderung auf die Zukunftsfähigkeit des Ackerbaus zu verstehen.

‘AGRICURB: The Agricultural Origins of Urban Civilization‘ European Research Council Projekt.Im Rahmen dieses Projekts führte ich Isotopenanalysen an Getreide, Tier- und Menschenknochen durch, um die Entwicklung der Landwirtschaft im Zusammenhang mit dem Erscheinen der ersten Städte zu rekonstruieren.

In meiner Doktorarbeit entwickelte ich eine Methode, um die δ15N-Werte von Aminosäuren in archäologischen Knochen und modernen Getreiden zu messen, mit dem Ziel, die Nutzung des Dungs in der Vorgeschichte zu erkennen.
